There are a lot of them, ranging in price from nominal to spectacular. New trendy ones open every week, according to Globe Calendar. Even staying within the boundaries of Newton there is never a need to eat in a chain restaurant.

If you want great food in a lively place try Buff's Pub. It draws a crowd of buffalo wing lovers and other messy-food fans. It is right off the Pike on Washington Street.

For gigantic sundaes and fresh raspberry fizzes try Cabot's Ice Cream Parlor, further down on Washington Street.

How about great Ice Cream at Cabot's Ice Cream and Restaurant, 743 Washington Street Newtonville MA. Foods not bad either!

just down the road some on route 9 towards framingham i enjoy going to bennigans. but also at the natick mall i like going to johnny rockets for a burger joint.
