some dsl like qwest, already have a wireless built in to the modem...others you may have to get a wireless router but thats your expense. doesnt hurt to call your provider first.

Not sure what exactly you mean, but will try to help. Ok do have a wireless connection then yes you need a wireless router. Some have built-in dsl connection, others don't. Some you have to connect to your existing DSL line. Also if your laptop doesn't already have a built in wi-fi card then you will have to buy this to. Some companies like earthlink will went you a wireless router but you are better off buying it yourself. Simle to install, can be a little tricky to configure if this is your first time. Does that help at all? Email if you need more help.

I wondered this myself, but found the dsl router that came with my service (versalink) worked great with nothing to add! As long as you have a card on your laptop for wireless, you may not need anything else. If your dsl provided your router, and it didn't work, you may want to call them for suggestions. SOmeone I know who wasn't able to use the wireless with the dsl router provided, had a different one provided by the company for free. It doesn't hurt to ask.

You'll have to pay for the router which you can pick up at Best Buy or even Walmart for around $50-100 but that is a one time fee. Once you do that you should be good to go, as long as your laptop already has a wireless card. If it doesn't, you'll have to pick up one of those as well.

That Linksys router is an equipment of a one-time purchase tag, there's no monthly usage fee thereafter, nor additional fee attach to DSL (used to because big companies seems to nickel and dime squeeze all they could, but not since market competition started heating up)

You will have to buy the router at your local retail store. Try Circuit City. They're usually cheapest. If you don't know how to set up a wireless connection I know you can buy an online training course from them that does it for you. You don't pay an additional charge per month for having a wireless router.

The only charge would be for the wireless router itself. There are no monthly service charges added. A little advice though, go with the new Wireless N, that's the latest and greatest speed option.

Just buy a wireless router, follow directions to install it, and then you have wireless internet, no extra fees, just gotta pay for the router one time, when you buy it.

Your only additional cost would be for the actual router itself. No other fee to use this router would apply.
