Years ago, when a couple wanted a divorce, one of them had to be accused of something, like having an affair, drug use, etc.
This caused problems, because people had to lie and invent charges, in order to get out of bad marriages.
To make it easier, the no fault divorce was implemented.
Since, that's happened it's been argued that it's easier to get divorced and others argue it's easier for abused spouses to escape abusive marriages. That's a whole different subject though.

Years ago in order to get a divorce there had to be proven "fault" like infidelity or abandonment etc. No fault merely means you can file with no particular cause or fault and still get the divorce.

It means that one partner cannot blame the other partner for any particular grievance they had with them resulting in the break up of the marriage....for example...in the past a partner could site adultery as a reason for divorce but not in a no-fault state.
Irreconcilable differences is the usual reason given on the divorce decree in these situations.

exactly what it says. That neither party is at fault for the failing of the marriage. There were no cases of abuse or infidelity, or any other reason for finding fault with one spouse which would cause a divorce to take place.

legally and literally, it means that neither party is at fault. in reality, h/ever, it generalizes the reason for the divorce-even if the cause is due to adultery (in most cases) or abuse.

Means no one party is at fault for the dissolving of the marriage. Generally they label that with "Irreconcilable Differences" and you split everything 50/50 unless children are involved.

it means you dont have to go to court and prove a wrongdoing, like an infedility, to get the judge to award the divorce. all you have to do, is either one or both parties to state that the marriage is irrevocably broken beyond repair and the divorce is granted.
