It was decided by the electoral college, which had more votes for George Bush than Al Gore, even though Gore "won" the popular vote. It wasn't the first time that has happened, nor will it be the last.

It's sad there was so much controversy, but when you have people voting for multiple candidates out of stupidity or senility, over 10,000 perfectly good ballots filled out by military personnel overseas that were thrown out for the completely bogus and ridiculous reason that they were sent in one large mailing rather than individual (imagine that, the military does something cost efficient only to have it thrown away), and when the talking heads say the election in Florida has been won by Gore at 8:00 eastern time, while thousands of Floridians live in the western part of the state (Pensacola, Destin, Panama City), where it was only 7:00 and thus the polls were still open (and coincidentally those are heavily Republican areas - guess it was a coincidence the talking heads said the polls were closed), well with all that going on, there was bound to be controversy.

hey guys remember that the Democrats had all the service members absentee ballots thrown out cause they were mailed by the army mail system instead of the us post with a stamp( talk about a BS technicality), what a giant slap in the face to our service members, me being one of them who sent his in from Germany and registered in Florida. the margin was so small that with those votes it would of made this a overwhelming win for bush. being that the military votes for the republicans in a overwelming majority, and gore knew that

so this argument really is about nothing except how the Dem's treated the people protecting this country

guys dont forget kennedy / nixon race where chicago help cheat kennedys way into the white house
