Our tradition all these years has been : if the President is from North then the V.P.will be from the south. NoT Hindu P and Muslim V.P.!
The BJP, which indulges in Muslim - bashing, having been pushed far behind in UP elections, wants to make amends to win 2009 general elections by patronizing Muslims. So they have gone for Ms Heptullah and the Third front has gone in for Mr. Rasheed Masud. So UPA has been forced to follow suit and set up Mr. Hameed Ansari.
This is just a political game and no change of heart !!

With due respects and regards to all the nominees for the vice-presidential election, this is one of the ways in which all the parties or political groups are sending signals to the muslim bretheren that they are their well wishers and when the time comes the muslims should vote in their favour.
Now, no one will openly admit this. Majority of the muslims have now seen through the ugly designs, started by the congress party, and care two hoots for them

Unfortunately candidate for electing vice president of India is not being seen taking into consideration his/her talent and contribution to our great country but prejudicially politically and religiously.

All parties try to get Muslim votes. They contend that since the Prez is Hindu, the VP must be a Muslim.
All these 3 candidates-
1. refuse to say Vande Mataram , &
2. will set Afzal Guru free.

* May be bcos no other caste people are having the qualification of becoming a V.P.
* Why u guys make it as an issue? Politicians may think on the basis of votes. But, why should u & me divide it in the same fashion. Whichever caste they may belongs to - we have to appreciate if they are the right candidate and that is our duty too....

That's fine as long as religion doesn't affect national decisions (church and state should be seperate since many people believe many different things but all have the same inherant human rights) It would be wrong to turn a candidate down based on their religious affiliation.

To appease Muslim Voters in 2009 Parliament elections. All three groups think {Cong,BJP & Regional parties} they will cross the majority barrier if Muslims support them.
But in the process they are going to loose their bases as BJP experienced with Shiv sena. Again Muslims are not going to vote to any single block en mass.

why do u consider religion in national interests. u just see whether they will b able to do good for our country. India is a secular country. Nobody has rights to do discrimination like this in national interests.
