Buddy, I have few friends who are single, many who are married, and apart from talking to most of them about this topic, I've done some real digging on this subject to get right answer for my own self! So what I am saying does have a lot of value for you right now. So I would like you to pay some good attention to me please:

Why do you think we need a life partner? For caring us in our illness, or to entertain us when we are alone, or to cook/clean/wash??? Wrong. Completely wrong. If that was the case, how do people manage when they don't have parents to do this job for them in their childhood days?? But they manage. Either they learn to do this on their own, or get an alternative like cook/home servant/friends...etc. to take care of their needs separately. Right?

I can challenge you that if you really want to live it your way, there's no force that can really stop you to do that. Be healthy, have good company of friends, have good positive habits that motivate you all the time, and just focus on what makes you happy.. and you can live a life that most people will envy!

But wait, I am not done yet.... lol. Then what is the reason that one should marry for?

As per my opinion, the right reasons to marry are:
1) to become exclusive with one partner, and avoid temptations from opposite sex that distract you all the time
2) to get joy of raising your own family

THAT MEANS, that if you marry for common reasons such as getting 'true love', 'a caring partner', 'a best friend for life', 'loyal wife/husband', 'brilliant kids', and blah blah blah.... you will also have the common problems that most people get trapped into as well!! I have experienced that its like a shot in the dark. Expecting anything here is expecting too much.

So drop fretting over such minor reasons to stay single friend. Sit alone for sometime > think carefully what reason are you looking for a life partner > and go with the decision that won't make you feel guilty of it in long term.

Take my word: You will manage... whatever you decide :-). All the best.

Good for you.
I decided the same thing when my 5th grade boyfriend kissed the blonde-haired girl by the swings.
Then I decided it again when my x-fiance came home from Viet Nam in a box.
Again, after my 1st husband cheated on me over and over.
MY second husband, abandoned me and our child after 10 years.
My third husband, after he was caught messing around with the neighborhood boys. Yep!
And now, 5 years later, I have found a truly wonderful man and made a pact not to get married--ever again.
We have been together for 2 years and are very happy.
I WISH I had never married.
I wish I could have had my children without having to raise my husbands, too.
I figured out-- at last-- that my "picker" was flawed, and I was marrying the same mess over and over.(I guess I'm a slow learner.)
You can do anything single you can do married except have a wedding and get divorced.
Even living with someone, they are entitled to half your stuff, if you split up-check local laws.
Women who want to have children, and live by the rules, have to get married, and so do MEN!
But the rules are being thrown out the window as I write.
If you don't LOVE kids, and are VERY mature and calm--please don't have children.
You can find men and women who don't want to get married, and can have intimate and loving relationships with them, married or not. You can have friends who will help when you are ill or pick you up at the airport or help you paint. You do not have to be alone at all-and in fact will have more company than you want. You have to BE such a friend, too.
You do not have to do everything. The money you save on kids and wooing a mate can be used to hire a maid. It's fairly cheap, really.
You probably ought to tell anyone you date more that a few times that you are a "confirmed bachelor," and to get over it or move on. It wouldn't be nice to date someone thinking they can thaw you out and then find out you are really determined.
With some men/women it is a real deal-breaker. Some not.
You won't have anyone to blame for losing your socks or forgetting to pay the gas bill. Other than that, it's all good!
Never say "Never!"
Good luck.

I don't think you'll run into many problems. And I don't consider cooking, cleaning, etc for yourself to be a problem. It's called being an adult. When you get married, there's twice the mess, but two people to handle it. It all evens out.

Anyway, people who stay single usually develop a great network of friends, coworkers, associates, and connections in the community. You don't want to be a total hermit, but there's no rule that says you have to seek all your companionship and satisfaction through a romantic partner. In fact, most experts agree it's unhealthy to expect one person to fill you up. By deciding to stay single, you are by default opening yourself up to have many different kinds of relationships.

It all depends on how you look at it. If you look at being single as somehow "odd" or as though you're "failing", then yes, you will feel lonely. If you look at it as simply another lifestyle choice - akin to choosing how to wear your hair or dress - then embrace it and use the choice to better expand your horizons. Volunteer, join community groups, cultivate new, meaningful friendships. Contrary to what the wedding and romance novel industry would like us to believe, you can be happy and be single.

single or dating or married.. it's all good. Bottom line.. just have a good network of friends who understand you and are there for you. Get some self help books (not necessarily to help any particular thing), so you can see what experts say about living single. Consider getting a pet if you're home a lot, or get interested in a hobby that makes you happy (painting, songwriting). You'll be fine whatever you choose, as long as you are doing things that make you happy.

Reality is that the human race bonds as couples and have families. I belive it is always best to prepare yourself for that responsibility. I personally see to many people thinking they are living the "single life" and then watch them flounder with relationships because they are unprepared and naive.

Plus the Bimbo can get knocked up anyway.

I'm 26 and divorced and have decided that I am going to stay single indefinitely. But I do want to have a family of my own, so I am going to adopt some children.

The enjoyment and intimacy of sex, emotional closeness, trust, a bond with another human, children and a close social network of loving family ...

If you're going to devote your life to God, I guess I can understand it - but what other reason could be good enough?

Wow. You're preparing yourself for the single life. Jesus, just live your life and go with it. It's nice to have a plan, but you're being a bit ridiculous.

Maybe you won't need to "prepare yourself" at all. Maybe you'll like it.

No one to tell you what to do, why, or what for?
No one to tell you to pick up your socks.
No one to complain for all the chics calling your cellphone.
No one to tell you you're a disgusting pig for leaving the sandwich meat on the counter.

Who says it will be all negative? :)
