Wow, with only a little thought, i can answer that one in my head. It's 10362.
Think of it this way (they don't teach you this in school).
22 x 471 = (10 x 471) + (10 x 471) + (2 x 471)
Do that because multiplying by 10 is always easy, just add a 0.
10 x 471 = 4710
do that twice and you hav 4710 + 4710
47 and 47 is obviously 94, and 10 + 10 is 20, so now you have 9420
multiply 2 x 471 and you have 942, i.e. (2 x 400) + (2 x 70) + (2 x 1)
Now, 9420 + 942? Kinda scary, right?
Well, why not 9420 + 1000 - 58
Adding 1000 is easy.
that makes 10420 - 58.
that makes 10420 - 50 - 8
or 10370 - 8
or 10362
Mental math is easy, if you break it down as such.

You can do this in your head, believe it or not!
22*47 = 22*(50-3) = 1100-66 = 1034
so
22*470 = 10340
22*471 = 10340+22 = 10362.
