The only factors of 27 are 1, 3, 9 and 27. Since 1, 9 and 27 are not prime, both composite, the only prime factor of 27 is 3.

27 can be rewritten as 3*9. Since 9 can be rewritten as 3*3, that means that 27 can be rewritten as 3*3*3 or 3³.

Since we have to use exponents, the answer is 3³.
