Though Kiss has definitely made a greater cultural impact than Def Leppard, I would give my vote to Def Leppard.
Besides Def Leppard's music being better, the drummer of Def Leppard (Rick Allen) lost his left arm in a car crash - and he was still the band's drummer! He played with one arm. And he STILL rocked. That deserves bonus points.

OMG! KISS!!! I have loved them all my life! They always had such a cool mystique about them! Hiding behind the makeup and being elusive was the best thing they could do in the early years! I love them!!!! Def Leppard is a far cry from KISS!!

In there haydays Kiss would have destroyed Def Leppard but they could have opened for them.

They both kick ***, I think Kiss Rocks a bit more though
Evertime Def Leppard is on at a bar, since I am a drummer I tuck my arm in my shirt and do my impression.

gotta give props to a one armed drummer who can keep a beat and mix things up..
unlike the drummer of kiss who keeps the same beat and tempo thru every song..it never changes
plus def leppard is good live!
