I want to go to cancun with my girlfriend. I need to know if the all inclusive deal is a good option. How much does the food cost there if I don't do that?
Dreams costs $450 more than Hilton but its all inclusive. Should I do that or do you think the food and drink wouldn't cost that much. What are other costs?
Any suggestions?

i just spent my honeymoon in cabo, and let me tell you the all inclusive is sooooooooo worth it.1) you dont have to worry about bringing a ton of money or changing it over to pesos 2) i dont know how much you drink, but alcohol can add up quick 3) consider room service, snack bars, all liquor bars any restaurant on the resort, and all pool services are all covered! mu husband loved that he could get a snack whenever, have one of the pool staff get you a drink, and it is not expected to tip on most resorts. plus i found that its easier to try new foods because if you dont like it you can get something else without breaking your bank. do the all inclusive- it is the only way i will ever go on a vacation again! Tip: if you are thinking of doing the all inclusive make sure there are about 5 restaurants, otherwise you will be eating the same things again and again, also bring at least one nice outfit because odds are that there will be at least one restaurant with a dress code (and that is the one where the BEST OF THE BEST food you will ever have in mexico will be) enjoy your trip!

I would pay the extra for the all-inclusive if you plan on doing a lot of drinking. Other than that it's close.

Here's my personal experience:

I've stayed in two different all inclusive resorts (Blue Bay Getaway & Royal Solaris). The last one was the best (Royal Solaris). $500 per person for flight and 4 nights. That's all food and alcohol included. There were 8 bars including a swim up bar and 6 restaurants 2 of which were 5 star dining. Outside the resort there's fishing, snorkeling, parasailing, pretty much any tropical sport you can think of. I'd recommend going in mid August as it is their off season and it will be cheaper.

Royal Solaris even included room service!! People think all-inclusives are bad but you have to get to the right one. You'll end up spending a lot more if you stay in a regular hotel.

The best club I think is "The City"; it's off the wall!!!! There's a Margaritaville, Sr. Frogs, and Coco Bongo. All are incredible. Mexico knows how to do it.

I booked on Expedia a week before and flew out on a Sunday to save roughly 50%.

Have fun!!!

Cancun can be an open entrance to your desire vacation only like this place hotelbye for getting there. Cancun features state-of-the-art hotel facilities among the greatest clubs, bars, and malls just a few legs away from the most lovely beaches in the world. One of the areas you need to see could be the Isla Mujeres. Here, the cool breezes blow over the island during the day and morning and here you will love: the snorkelling, the scuba, the swimming with dolphins, the distant beaches for moonlight walks and private talks, and results of waterfront restaurants surrounded by great buying and wonderful organic scenery. If you are buying a Cancun destination place to curl up, Isla Mujeres is the spot to come.

Don't do an all inclusive, and be careful, ask a lot of questions, $ 450 doesn't seem right, make sure you don't end up in a nasty hotel, Cancun is very expensive a coke can go for $ 4.00 depending on where you go but for the most part is very expensive, if you do an inclusive kinda package you'll be stuck with something you don't like I can guarantee you that!
You didn't specify if it's for one or 2 people, if it includes airfare & hotel, (during high season is much higer of course)
I'm thinking it's only for the hotel, but some of the hotels like the Hilton have an excelent restaurant and food service, breakfast buffet, etc. tips are obviously not included, but it depends on what you like & budget. google these things. You'll find an array of information!

Don't listen to the negative responses about all-inclusive resorts. They are the best. I've been to several in Mexico, including Cancun, and am going again in two weeks. They are the way to go. No worries about what you're going to eat or how much you're going to spend. Think about it, you're not paying that much for the hotel plus the airfare, and every thing's included. I mean the food's not going to be gourmet, but it gets you by. McDonald's and Burger King are worse, but we don't complain about them, do we?

All in all, I say do it, and if you don't really leave the resort, you don't really have to take a lot of money, maybe a couple hundred dollars. If you do go out a lot, like clubs, etc, take more. Have fun!!!

I just came back from an all inclusive in Cancun at the Moon Palace. I will never ever ever do it again in Cancun. The Moon Palace is part of the Palace resorts, and they own about 5 resorts in that area.
I can only say that the food was terrible. On the 5th night, we left the resort to go out to eat (we went to Johnny Rockets), and to this day, that was the best most needed meal I have ever had. A temporary reprieve from lousy food.
Make sure you stay on the strip(the part of land shaped like a 7), and you will have easy access to many decent restaurants.

Honestly, I was so turned off by the Moon Palace that I won't go back to Cancun. I recommend Turks and Caicos, St. Martin, St. Barts, Aruba and the Cayman Islands as a better alternative.

My husband and I flew into Cancun in May. We actually stayed in Playa del Carmen, about 30 minutes away from cancun. We did stay at an all inclusive resort (Grand Palldium Resort and Sap). The food was excellent and I think that we got our moneys worth. I would definatly do the all inclusive again.

Some people prefer all inclusive but we tried it once and it was horrible. We wound up having to go to restaurants anyway so we spent twice as much per day since the inclusive fee had to be paid up front. There are some all inclusives that allow you to order from menus at the different restaurant choices on site. This is more acceptable but if it's buffet all day....pass. You can find plenty of off site restaurant choices to meet your budget and you can even have a special night out at Ruth's Chris. Or you could save your money and go to Miami....Cancun looks just like it.

If you have a regular lunch or dinner in any restaurant it would cost no less than $25 per person, so it's your choice.

All inclusive food in the hotels is really good!

Dang if you want to go to Cancun, why not take a cruise? You could do an entire cruise for 7 days for about $600.00 per person. Of course I don't know what part of the country you live in, so you might have to figure in airfare if you are not close enough to drive to a port of call. Been to Cancun, Cozumel, Jamaica, The Cayman's, Puerta Vallarta, Mazatland, Cabo and other places. Cancun is pretty however the Cayman's and Puerta are by far my favorite. Anyway, look into cruising alot more vacation for the dollar.

Good luck and have fun,
