Why single out obese people? What about dangerously thin people? And people with eating disorders? And people who eat fast food? People with undiscovered food allergies? Smokers? Drinkers? Drug addicts? People born with congenital defects or diseases? How 'bout people who's obsessive compulsive disorders prevent them from eating anything but green food?

I think all obese people should be shipped to an island and not allowed to return until they are a reasonable weight. Maybe we should just leave them there because they'll probably just get fat again. They arent worthy of breathing the same air as normal people. They should definitely be refused healthcare. Only healthy people should get healthcare-not the fatties. They say overweight people are 65% of the population-just think how lovely that would be to have all of those fat people gone? We'd have so much more room. When the perfect people say shape up or ship out-they wont be kidding. It should be a law that we're only allowed a margin of 5 pounds. If we go over the 5 pound limit-it's off to the island.

Well that depends on if it's at someone else's forced expense(non-family), if they have a condition they cannot help(genetic problem, thyroid metabolism etc), or if they just act and eat irresponsibly and expect other people to take care of them.
For the former I would say no, they need to live with the consequences of their own actions.
For the second yes, they definitely should be provided all help that is reasonably available.
For the first I would definitely say no. That gets into socialized health-care, and that's a bad idea.

Don't you realize that we would all be closer together if everyone put on more weight.
Seriously, is your alternative to let all obese people die? I imagine you to be a materialistic, conservative, self-centered, anorexic. You need to watch the movie "Sicko".
Shall we join together and boycott all fast food where one meal can give you a weeks worth of sodium? The media encourages materialism and over consumption of everything (Big Mac).
If you don't have disposable income, health care and insurance in America can be simply unavailable. It cost $1,500.00 for six stiches in the emergency room recently. How can that be a good health system? (America is ranked 37!)
Don't worry, in America insurance companies legally discriminate (higher rates) against private clients who are obese.

People who care about others are not concerned with the reason of their ailments. You see something that is broke and they do their best to fix it. There is proof that obese people have trouble producing leptids which is the chemical in the brain that tells the body that it is full.

because obesity is the only ' vice' that is obviously visible and is that fair. do smokers/drinkers/anorexics/sportspeople not deserve it either. many things cause illness- should we exclude people who choose stressful jobs, have bad marrriages.? the list is endless

Let's see...as far as I know, obese people are still people..or do they become something else in your mind? This question is foolish, rude, and borders on bashing!
