Do we only care because of their looks?

Do they matter now or are they already drugged-out has-beens?

Probably not - they're becoming jokes, and it's really sad, since they're both so young!
I could feel one way or the other about Linsday - although judging from that mugshot, I think her substance problem is well past cocaine. Sadly her issues are more cliche than anything. But no matter how bad she gets, she's got NOTHING on Drew Barrymore.
But Brittney - my heart actually hurts for her; can't explain why, I never particularly liked her, but she's pretty much been on this spiral since she was 16; when it rains, it pours for her! But now she as other lives to consider (I pray that that third pregancy is a rumour) and she's in NO WAY caplable of dealing rigth now. If she manages to recover even by a fraction, it'll be a miracle.

I remebered my stepsis telling me a couple years back when Britney was still at the height of her career that by the time she reached the age of 25 ~ she'll already be a "Has Been". I can't say anything different for Lohan either. I think put all that bad karma on themselves just by creating the choices they both made.

I love Britney Spears, she is the best! Of course they will both matter in five years. They are amazing and will keep acting and singing for a long time. Even when they retire people will like them because they are practically legends.

Britney Spears never mattered in my opinion. Lindsay on the other hand has talent and I hope she cleans up her act because she has potential.

what looks! they're hags already, lost in an industrial machine that will save them or screw them. they are so lost, alone and already parodies of what being a rich white girl is supposedly all about. i feel sorry for them. depending on what new singing sensations come up in the next five years, the answer to your question is both yes and no.
eg: if tabloids do not loose interest in either party, if they continue to perform varied crazed attention seeking behavior, rehab, childbirth, hit songs ever so often,image change, movies, romantic entanglements, bad marriges . then sure, we'll be seeing them in five years.

No to Britney because she has no talent. Yes to Lindsay, because the girl can act, and has been doing so since she was a young girl. :)

They are slowly destroying their career or what career they had left. The problem is that they got famous WAY to quickly. I hope they learn from their mistakes.
