If you're sexually active, or over the age of 18, you need to start seeing a gynecologist on a yearly basis. If you are neither of those, you just need to continue getting your yearly check-up.

Edit: Unless you've been having your period for 8 months straight and in that case, you'd want to see your doctor as soon as possible. However, I think that this wasn't the question you were asking...

You'll want to see your general physician for a phyiscal, and from that point you can either see a OB/GYN (someone who specialises in female gentilia) or just stick with your doctor.

A phyiscal is going to be the easiest, and you won't have MUCH prodding to happen in your vaginal area. You'll start getting pap smears when you start having sex or turn 20, which is first.

You don't need check ups until you are 21 or 2 years after you started having sex (unless, there's a problem).

most girls dont start having pap smears until they are 18 or when they start having sex. and a pap is where they do a swab of ur vagina to see if everything is ok and they will do a breast exam to check for lumps.

get to the doctor immediatley! they will explain everything when u get there and do go b/c that is not normal nor healthy u can create worse problems from too much loss of blood like anemia...they might put u on birth control but only depending on what the problem is...goodluck!!!

as long as you're not sexually active, you shouldn't need to go to the gynecologist until you're 18. once you are active, or decide you want to go on the pill or anything, you'll have to go to the gyno. my best advice is to let the doc know it's your first time, then they'll talk to through everything they're going to do. it won't be comfortable, but the more relaxed you are, the better it'll be.

check-ups? i've had my periods for 3 years and never had any check-ups. you only need it checked when you notice a problem.

after the age of 18, or when you become sexually active, whichever comes first, you need to get yearly pap smears and breast exams.
