You need a prescription from a doctor or nurse practitioner for birth control pills, but i think just recently you can get Plan B over the counter if you are 18, in california. The morning after pill, or Plan B, is only for when your current form of birth control fails (you miss a pill, condom breaks/slips) NOT for every day birth control use. Only for emergency use. You can get a prescription from your local planned parenthood or health clinic, no matter your age.

BTW, for you pro-lifers out there, Plan B doesn't make you abort of miscarry, it prevents you from ovulating. If you have already ovulated this cycle, you are screwed and Plan B won't work.

My understanding is you need a prescription for the birth control pill, but anyone over 18 can get emergency contraception (morning after pill) without one. If there's a Planned Parenthood clinic near you, give them a call.

In California pharmacies have the morning after pills and you do not need a prescription and I found that the best form of birth control is depo provera which is a shot that you get every three months.

For birth control you have to go to a gynecologist and get a pap done before they will give you a prescription. The morning after I think you can now get at a drug store but you have to be over the age of 18 I think.

I am pro-life. I think the morning after pill is completely wrong! If you don't want kids then use condoms and talk to your Dr. about using birth control.
