TWICE today I read people saying that it would be cruel to do what we need to do to win the war, so we are trying to do a delicate balance. SERIOUSLY? Since when do we try and 'delicatley balance' something in a war? Now, don't get me wrong, I am against war. But, if you are for it, why aren't you for doing what it takes to win? All's fair in love and war, right?

the other comment was about why the dems could win WWII...because they were willing to take casualities. But NOW we are too civilized to do that. lol...how do you fight a 'civilized' war?

and yes, I DO see the point of taking the moral high ground on torture. Someone else's lack of morlaity is NOT enough for me to abandon mine.

THERE IS NO "WINNING" A "WAR ON TERROR."

I simply cannot believe people are this stupid.

To the fool below me: You are woefully misinformed about WHO is being tortured. Please justify to me the barbaric torture of about 600 freakin' people who have been released from Guantanamo WITH NO CHARGES EVER HAVING BEEN FILED.

You people KILL me.

If you have the time I would suggest you read the 9/11 report. and especially section 12. It states very clearly you cannot fight the war on terror by going around killing people. We must change the situation in the middle east that leads to the masses joining with the jihadists. This includes getting the sheiks on our side, creating education availabilities, teaching better ways to farm, building roads for communication, etc. Which if you read my last answer you would see this is exactly what we are doing. I agree it seems like a very daunting task and I also agree we have not handled things to the best of our abilities (which no military action or government action can claim in all honesty) but that is the only answer anyone has come up with yet.

Which War? The Endless Global War On Terror? The bungled mess in Iraq? Afghanistan which is coming apart at the seems because the resouces are deployed elsewhere? The War on the Middle Class? The War on Drugs, The War on Cancer, The War Against the Constitution?Just Which War?

The fact is that we are capable of 'winning' this war at any point we got angry enough to do it. We have capabilities now that would make Dresden look like a Chucky Cheese birthday party. The problem is that we are dealing with fighting an ideology, and that brings the old 'hearts and minds' argument into focus, so we don't want to wipe out 30-50% of the country in horrific bombings.

Also, keep in mind that it's generally not those who support the war that aren't 'doing what it takes to win'. It's that we're cowtowing to the sensibilities of those who oppose it. Does anyone else see the irony of Bush outlawing torture against people who chop the heads off of forgein reporters?

The only morality crisis I'm having involves hillary and why anyone would overlook her immorality.

If you read the papers today, you will see that the military is reporting that the surge is having a positive effect.

So ironic that you pretend to be against the war while advocating mass destruction and untold collateral loss of lives - easy to see why it is so easy for someone such as yourself to overlook hillary's many failings.

How naive. We lost 3300 marines on Guadal Canal in 1 month. We have lost just a few more troops than that in 5 years in Iraq and the screaming and whining from libs like you is relentless. Get a clue.

We need to do what it takes to win. However, we may be to soft.
