when you have a disturbed child they often tell you to look for
like fire-sets fires
wets beds
abuses animals
these usually say the child is going to or has a chance of being an antisocial personality disorder
so if your arsonist is doing for a reason other then to collect insurance money(which means he is a crook and can still mean he has personality defects but more towards moral problems) then yes he could be antisocial and don't rule out other problems lol
this is just a boiler plate answer i could write a whole bunch of theoretical stuff but this is the best guess

Incidentally, it is spelled "arsonists". There is another name for those who deliberately set fires, pyromaniacs. These people have a mental disorder, which in itself is enough to require psychological intervention. They definitely present a danger to themselves and to others. They need to get help to conquer this obsession before it gets totally out of hand. They may exhibit other abnormalities, such as a desire to get attention, or a tendency to be destructive in other areas. It is a sickness, not just a bad habit, and it needs to be nipped in the bud. If caught, an arsonist will end up in prison, as it is also considered a major crime.

.....If someone would deliberately destroy something by fire, then it's a fair question to ask - WHAT ELSE WOULD THEY DO?
Doing this requires a basic disregard for human life or property. So yes, this might get expressed in other ways.
For the record, this has to do with a character weakness or a psychological disorder, not a personality trait.

Yes,most fire setters are either suffering from depression, they could be ADHD, paranoid or even psychotic, which are all psychological disorders. On the other-hand they may just do it out of mere curiosity, which could be described as irrational actions.

I have often wondered about this myself and haven't ben able to find very much information on the subject but I do think pyromania Is only a symptom of a deeper emotional instability.

Um... you wouldn't like me very much. I love fire. Anything to do with fire. But I wouldn't set a house on fire unless it was old and abandoned and empty. And I would never hurt any animals (I have 3 dogs. I love them so much).
