Here's what you do. Pay the fine but over pay by $10. When they send you a refund check, rip it up & throw it away. They can not close the case unless you cash the refund check. Then in 10 years the will auto close the case & you will never get the points on your record. It works for real!

Oh, wow, you got a speeding ticket in NY? My older brother is actually a New York State Trooper. When you go to court, usually they always reduce first timer tickets.
Both: Congratulations AND sorry about your first ticket. ♥

if you show up at court instead of just mailing in your fine, you have a chance of having it reduced to a lesser charge. I got one for 69 in a 55...they reduced it to running a stop sign...I still got 2 points but the fine was less

meet up with this cop.
i am writing this so everyone will know what kind of cop Hank Sheldon of the Springfield New York police department really is. This is my story and every word is true.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was in Springfield, I passed an intersection. There was a cop behind another vehicle at the light turning onto my road. A couple of moments later I saw the cop turn the corner and his flasher came on. It looked like he was attempting to pull the person behind me over. I made an attempt to pull over to the side of the road in case the cop needed to get by me. I realized the shoulder of the road wasn't wide enough to get my car off the road safely. I pulled into the first safe place I saw. It looked like a business with a very large parking lot that looped back around to the road. You could have put 20 cars in that area easily. The cop pulls behind me and demands to know why I pulled into someone's private driveway instead of pulling over on the road. I tried to explain, and he shut me up real quick. He didn't even want to hear my answer. He then asked me if I knew why I had been pulled over. I said "NO". He said, "You don't know why you were pulled over" again I said "NO". Then he said "you really don't know why you were pulled over" he was smiling an evil smile at me like it was some kind of joke. Again I said "NO". I figured it had something to do with the garbage can in the back of my car. the trunk was tied shut. The cop finally told me I was speeding through town. He said I was going 65 in a 40 mph zone. I looked at him in shock. I had been behind a pickup truck that was loaded down with logs for the last 10 miles. The truck was struggling to pick up speed. Also the cop hadn't even been in the town I had just driven through. From the time I saw him, till the time I pulled over was less than the length of a football field. The cop at that time demands to see my driver license and registration. I gave him my license and the cop was looking right into my window, watching me closely. He saw me remove my seatbelt to get the registration out of the glove compartment. (I always wear a seatbelt) The cop then starts telling me what will happen if I get a speeding ticket. I will get points on my license, driving school, $200 fine, and my insurance will go up. Then the cop said "or I can give you a ticket for not wear a seatbelt" again I looked at him in shock, and immediately told him I had one on when he stopped me. The cop, lifts his finger, as to say shut up and listen to me, and Yells "Kristy". He then starts telling me for the next 10 minutes over and over again about what will happen if I take the speeding ticket and what will happen if I take the seatbelt ticket. he was actually demanding i take the seatbelt voilation ticket. By then I was almost in tears. I was getting a ticket for one thing or the other and I hadn't committed either crime. I didn't know a cop could negotiate a ticket. In the end, I got a ticket for the seatbelt violation. I happened to notice the cop was walking away with a big smile on his face. I'm posting a copy of my ticket to the internet, along with my report, so everyone will know what he did to me. I did black out some personal information.
it was clear that this traffic stop was a game to this police officer. if i had been speeding, he should have given me a ticket for that. why didn't he? because he knows i wasn't speeding.
this cop is a real loser

I'm not sure about NY laws but here in IL if you plead guilty to the ticket then don't have any other violations for 90 days it gets removed like it was never there. Maybe you can check and see if NY has anything like that.

See if they will let you go to traffic school that way no points will be taken and it won't show up on your insurance

If your state has defensive driving classes you can have it taken off of your record.

Don't think so! That's bad, but you could always get a police radar! <3
