Just sit down with him and explain your preferred schedule to him. Tell him why you can't work days. At places like this, they are generally very flexible since they do have many people that attend school and what not.

Just tell him flat-out that's what you prefer, but word it in such a way that it sounds like you're doing him a favor. For example:

Instead of saying "Could you schedule me to work nights? I prefer it." You could say "You know, I really prefer to work nights, so if you need anybody to work night shifts, I'd really love to do that instead of days."

If you're not able to work days, you'll have to tell him you are obligated to babysit and which hours you do that. Then tell him you would like to work night hours and close. If the night hours aren't available, you'll have to choose whether to work at Wendy's or babysit.

He could have you training during those hours...However, if you noticed that schedule reflects hours you don't want, I suggest you speak to him...But if it's really bothering you right now, why don't you kindly remind him of the conversation you guys had about working on the night shift

Congrats on your new job

Just ask I remember you mentioning you needed a closer? If you still need one I would like to work your closing shift and if she/he says no and asks why just be honest and say why.

Just be honest with him. Pull him aside when your not busy and ask him about it. All he can say is no.
