1-4/x+6=4/x

this is kinda confusing, the problem kinda looks like this

hahaha when i guess thats not what the problem looks like

okay its 1 minus 4 over x-6 equals 4 over x

i think you meant 1 - 4/(x + 6) = 4/x right?


so get the LCD on the left side
(x + 6)/(x + 6) - 4/(x + 6) = 4/x

(x + 6 - 4) / (x + 6) = 4/x

(x + 2) / (x + 6) = 4/x

cross multiply
4(x + 6) = x(x + 2)

distribute
4x + 24 = x^2 + 2x

set the eqution equal to 0
x^2 - 2x - 24 = 0

factor
(x - 6) (x + 4) = 0

x = 6 or -4
