It could be dangerous if they are too big because that is how thieves could break into your home by being obscured by the bushes. Plant material around your home is a good thing both for the enviornment and also to reduce the heat from direct sun onto your home. But, if they are overgrown and provide hiding places where criminals have time to jimmy open a window or door, consider trimming them back.

and your own personal security..........? Nice hiding places for burglers to work on your home unseen by neighbors or passerbys.
Unless you are seeing mold or mildew on your home or the shrubbery is scratching the house, you are probably fine. I assumeyou are raking up fallen leaf debris so as not to provide insect havens. Having a constantly wet soil near the home could also bring in termites, so dry things out from time to time.
Your health? If you wash the shrubs occassionaly to reduce dust, no problem. If you are allergic to the shrubs, big problem.

If they are tall enough to block the view, trim them down.I never like to have bushes that hide my door.If the house faces north and never gets sun then they need to be trimmed so the air can flow through them.Don't let it be a place to hide and hurt you as you enter. The only bushes I ever had were yuccas under my windows. For the safety issue. No one climbs in a window with thorns under them.Hope this helps...

Trim bushes from touching the walls of your home. These are easy ways of rodents to access your home.
Also, look into burglaries and notice bushes are a cover for them attempting to break into your home.
Some bushes can be thinned not trimmed.

The bushes should be shading your house which will lower your air conditioning bill and reduce electricity use. In turn, that will reduce electricity generating plant emissions, reduce smog and improve air quality.
So very healthy indeed!

If you are not allergic to them, they will not hurt you.
You can cut them to hedge size down to below your windows if you wish. Keeping them cut down in size will help them to bush out and look pretty.
If they look ugly, have a landscape company pull them out for you.
