The deadliest hurricane in the U.S. since record keeping began was the 1900 Galveston, TX hurricane. Hurricanes were not given names at that time. Estimated deaths are between 8,000 and 12,000:

Can't remember the name but a Hurricane hit Galveston early in the 1900's that killed around 5000+ people if I remeber correctly.

in the early 1900's an unnamed hurricane hit Galvenston Texas....over 8,000 died....it is to date the deadliest hurricane ever
