The ONLY thing that the democrats were promising to do about national security was to implement every one of them. They criticized the president and the republican congress for not taking action on them.
So, what happened? I think you liberals dropped the ball on that one, didn't you? Or was this just more methane out of your mouths?

Apparently, many of you are forgetting that the Republicans are but a memory. The democrats are in control now. And still, NOTHING. Not a single one has been implemented. You don't think Makmoud al-Reid and Mohammad Pelosi wouldn't haul out the marching band for that little spur? LOL. You guys are really suckin' down the koolaid, aren't you?

actually its quite funny. in the last debate the republicans kept holding up the ISG report saying we should implement it. And all the dems could say was, "we want to vote" forgetting they pulled this stunt and continue to do this on every other issue on the floor currently. Which ofcourse is obvious this would happen because if the Dems would have read the report it states very clearly that a short term surge to stabilize before a moderate withdrawal to support the government is a workable solution.

Since most of the 9/11 recommendations were "administrative" and therefore in the realm of the Executive branch, the Democrats in the House and Senate cannot implement them only the President can.
As an aside does any one else thing that YA should have a link where folks can go and check what the powers of each branch of the government are. There seem to be a lot of questions on here where people are not sure what the powers of each branch are and what the limitations

like avail said, this question, along with your comments shows how poorly you are informed.
first of all, many of them have been implemented, that was obvious from the second report from the 9/11 commission.
second, the democrats aren't in control. they may have majority, but it isn't enough of one to actually be considered "in control" when republican still have VETO power, and democrats don't make up 2/3 of the house.
In reality congress is pretty well balanced, considering niether party has enough control to make a 2/3 vote. it is the veto power that tips the scale in the republican direction.
So not only are you poorly informed on what congress is doing in reference to the 9/11 commission recomnedations, but you have very litle knowledge of how your government actually works.

Some of them /are/ being implemented, unlikely though they may be to succeed, such as 'engaging' Syria and Iran. Others have been implemented and have been largely unsuccesful - such as training the Iraqi army to take up security duties, that was worked for years with poor results.

If you do your research, you will realize that many, if not most of them have been implemented, and many more being implemented over time.
some of the recomendations can't be implemented instantly.
maybe you should get more familiar with what they are and what congress really has been doing that doesn't appear in the media.
Poorly prepared jabs at liberals, like this, only show how poorly informed someone actually is.

everytime the democrats try to pass anything the republicans block it. if you need 60 votes and you don't have them it's gridlock. This is what the republicans will do until the next election in an efffort to protect the Bush administration ( not because they want to but because they have to protect the party. ). You guys are so pitiful.

rather silly questions. Have you forgotten that the one who could and should have implemented these policies (a republican president, no less) did almost nothing but ignore the recommendations? At best, he's payed a small bit of lip service to them.

What happened to all the Iraq study groups that Bush set up? What happen to them? They gave their reports, and told him their recommendations, but then after that, nothing. As if they were never formed.
