Fernando Tatis, Jr. On April 23 1999 WITH sT. lOUIS cARDINALS, he became the only major league player in history to hit two grand slams in a single inning; he hit both against the same pitcher, Chan Ho Park of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tatis also set a record with eight RBI in the inning.

The way he's going YES!

A. Fernando Tatis with eight, when he hit two grand slams off Park in one frame.

2. Possibly, but RBI are a highly team-dependent statistic, so a great deal will depend upon the teams he plays for during the rest of his career. This is still a high-offense era, and if he gets the chance to bat behind some high-OBP guys often, he'll rack up the ribbies. If not, he'll have many fewer. Alex has the skillz, no doubt, but we cannot predict the opportunities, because that's not something over which he'll have control.

For all the power and average Arod has, I don't believe he will because he simply doesn't drive in runs compared to the others stats.
He is still 850 RBis away or 58% more of his career total. he would need to have no decline for 7 years at 120 per year. Not impossible, but still on the long side.

The other part working against him is his contract. If he wants to be the highest paid player, the players around him will suffer for it.
If he opts out and the Yankees have the full burden of his contract, I believe that shows enough about his "yankee pride" that he cares more about the Yankee Price and they won't resign him (simply, because he ISN'T WORTH IT)

He has lead the league in RBIs only once (2002 with 142)
Also, if you look around that time, it was at the low end of league leading totals.
2006 Ortiz 137
2005 Ortiz 148
2004 Tejada 150
2003 Delgado 145
2001 Boone 141
2000 Martinez 145
1999 Ramirez 165
1998 Gonzalez 157
1997 Griffey 147
1996 Belle 148
1995 (Shorter season) Belle and Vaughn with 126.

Comparable to the other leaders, just on the low end

A single inning, I would think it's Fernando Tatis or Nomar Garciaparra. Tatis hit 2 GS in 1 inning for the Cardinals.

I think A-Rod has the best SHOT to break the RBI record, but time will tell.
