I'll let you know as soon as I find myself in an unsafe situation while traveling abroad. I'm the kind of traveler who hits 4 continents in a month when I have time off of work. I've been to 5 of the world's 7 continents so I think I have enough experience to talk. One day I'll get Australia and Antarctica too.

This President has made it unsafe to travel in our own country, much less around the world! His 'crack' Department of Homeland Security is nothing less than a Gestapo gang of thugs without training, direction, purpose or scruples. They consider U.S. citizens guilty until proven innocent, and use force when it's uncalled for.
Such a police state is not all that different from the days of Hitler in pre-war Germany. Neighbors 'turned in' neighbors; otherwise intelligent people assumed it was 'acceptable' to gas six million Jews; and the propaganda machine brainwashed Nazi sympathizers into believing Hitler's vision of a pure white race was 'normal'.
Today, American citizens 'snitch' on other citizens; otherwise intelligent 'ditto heads' assume it's 'acceptable' to insult, injure or - eventually even kill - those who don't agree with their conservative viewpoints; and the Bush propaganda machine has brainwashed many conservatives into believing that liberals, blacks, welfare recipients, or anyone who is poor, underprivileged, sick, old, disadvantaged, hungry, unemployed, or homeless have no place in our capitalistic society. -RKO- 07/26/07

Half the people I know have been to Europe or Central America this year and they've said nothing about it being unsafe for Americans.

As I recall, it was pretty unsafe under Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton , as well as Bush II. Depends on where you were. Weren't there hostages taken in Iran under Carter? Didn't 282 marines die in Beruit under Reagan? Weren't numerous Americans kidnapped and murdered under Bush I and Clinton? what was your point again?
