They complained long and hard about fuel prices during the elections. Now that they are in control, why are they doing nothing? Don't say they don't have the power. They believe they have the power to over rule the President on his war policies, why not his energy policies? They have already gone abroad to independently engage in international diplomacy, why not deal directly with the oil producing countries to lower oil prices? Why have they not even addressed the high cost of fuel? I see no debate on the Hill.

The Dems carefully. loudly, and incessently pointed out the woes of the nation and the struggles of the none rich. They promised that they would fix these problems if put in control. One of the biggest howling points was high gas prices. They held a couple of hearings and then what? What is their next step to bring relief to struggling families, desperately trying to make ends meet?
Don't tell us alternative energy. In ten years it still won't make $00.05 difference in cost. What are they going to do NOW?

No. But they will whine and complain like they usually do with no solutions in sight.

That guy that says there's a bill is a liar. They won't do anything because they like high gas prices. They get more in severance taxes and they feel the common guy can just take the bus. They also feel that if gas prices get high enough to make people ride the bus it's better for the environment. AND the environment is the reason we don't have new refineries instead we use outdated inefficient ones. and the reason we can't drill of our own oil in the middle of as ice field called Anwar. These hippies create problems then get voted into office promising to fix the problems they created. The media then brainwashes helpless hippies by not telling the whole truth. They eat it up, just like they eat up the hatred of Bush, they're weak.

If you are paying more at the pump then chances are someone is making more at the stock market. I could be wrong. Perhaps we are out of oil and it has suddenly become rare. But wait according to government experts we haven't even reached peak oil yet. Maybe the cost of refining or producing oil has gone up. But didn't we give 300 billion dollars in grants and tax benefits to the oil companies to supplement that cost? I know my parents oil company stock is worth more then ever so the oil companies don't appear to be suffering. In fact they seem to be doing better then ever.
So if the companies are making lots of money and the politicians are selectively blind to this then there could be a connection. Now lord forbid I ever imply that a politician is not a true paragon of honesty. I know that they would never ever lie or cheat or steal. But they might invest. If they are becoming even more rich then they already are from oil related stocks then could it be possible that they have a reason to let us go on paying more so long as they can get away with it?
Shocking as it may be I don't totally trust politicians. I know this makes me a very bad and unpatriotic person. I'll surly burn in hell.

How, by nuking the areas of the world where petroleum demand has grown rapidly, which explains 70% of the price increases?
Or by strengthening the dollar, which would put more blue collar workers out of work?
Or by allowing more refineries - or better yet the capacity to refine heavy/sour grades - - killing 2 birds with 1 stone since those grades don't come from the Middle East?
Nah - they'll go back to price ceilings, which will have the same effect they had in the 1970s - shortages. Why? Because they think their college Econ 101 textbooks are right wing propaganda.
How people like Snorefest can function in the modern world I have no idea - - yeah moron, it's all one big conspiracy....
Actually the fuel industry is one of the most fragmented industries there is.
You spend a lot more per gallon on the product made by the one real "trust" - - MILK.
DEAN FOODS. Google it.

Yeah, the high (less than $3 per gallon) cost of fuel. Compared to the $4 per gallon milk. The $6 per gallon orange juice. The $10 per gallon coffee.
How exactly are they going to "fix" the price of gas except by providing larger subsidies to the oil companies.
You see the oil companies make about 8cents per gallon on gas. The gas station makes a little, and the rest goes toward the cost of the crude oil, the distillation (lots of energy), and the transportation (both to the US and then to the gas station).
Oh, and the tax (about 50 cents to the US gov't and 20-40 cents to the state government). So I guess if we eliminate the gas tax that would reduce the cost of gasoline--but that isn't environmentally friendly so I doubt it wil happen.
The question is, will they RAISE gas prices in order to fix the CO2 problem?

In Tennessee our legislature realized that prices were so high that people stopped unnecessary driving, They heard the complaints of people who couldn't afford gas and held hearings on it, after which they raised the state tax on gas because they found the income from it was dropping. We have a dem legislature down here and a dem governor.
Government will not allow itself to starve and will not go on a diet. Dropping gas prices drops tax revenue and you will never see government get in a hurry to let taxes fall, get use to the prices being up.

The worst thing you could have have happen is for the government to fix a problem. The paradox created would unravel the universe we know today. (Ha Ha)
What we really want is for gridlock to remain so our ruling elites will keep their noses out of our business.
Currently both parties are incapable of fielding solutions without making the other party look stronger, so we will see no progress until we reach another watershed mark like 911 or we actually vote the bums out of office and replace all those politicians who believe it is their birthright to be reelected each year..

No because they will not allow domestic drilling, new refinery construction (which is the biggest issue) or new nuclear plants all which would go a long ways in our becoming energy self sufficient and reducing costs while allowing time to develop other sources of energy

No but what we will do, and actually we have done already, is increase the minimum mileage per gallon so you will get more bang for the buck. We also will increase research on alternative fuels.

Gas prices are not high, the dollars value is just low, actually its worthless and people just don't know it yet! I advise that if you have any of your wealth in dollars get rid of them quick, buy something not taxable with it! If a dollar is worth 3.5 cents and gas is 3.50 a gallon, your gas is only.10 cents a gallon how much cheaper can you get than that?

Nope, they won't. That's because they can't. But that won't stop them from promising, will it.
BTW, have you noticed that they also promised to implement every one of the recommendations from the 9/11 commission? Have they implemented one? Nope. They won't do that either.
Democrats. All talk, no action. And approval ratings around 14% because the rest of America, the mooks that voted for these clowns, are finally recognizing them for nothing but the hot air they spew. Didn't take long, did it?
