Agreed. There's no way for a Muslim to practice true Islam and live in a free democratic society - those are not compatible.
The only way for a true Muslim to live in the Western world according to the Koran is if he/she is actively planning to overthrow that society and secure it as an Islamic state. Otherwise they would be perpetually living among "infidels", at practice that is forbidden.

What are you trying to say? Take a look at any crowded slum in Mumbai, you will find Urdu speaking Muslims along with every-language-of-India speaking Muslims, Hindus and other communities, all living together in close proximity with a reasonably amicable sense of neighbourliness. Ditto in the suburban trains of Mumbai. The rest of India could learn a lesson in communal harmony from these slum and chawl dwellers.
Why are so many people trying to foment communal hatred on these forums? As though there isn't enough already.
Live and let live, in peace and harmony with people of other communities. Yahoo was relatively free of such venom compared to Rediff which is a hotbed of hatred.

Kettle calling pot black. If "Musalmaans are to reform themselves to become a real member of INDIAN POLITY",
before that orthodox Hindus should accept every Harijan as their brother and love them. Before trying to reform others make your house in order.
India is the motherland for Jains,Parsees,Buddhists,Christians,Muslims and Hindus. But only in Hinduism is the atrocity of untouchables amongst their own religious brothern.

It would depend on the individual believer....many Muslims may only live among Muslims. But just as Christianity has all different churches and beliefs, and Judaism has all different synagogues and beliefs, Islam has the same differences....many Muslims here live peacefully with all people of different faiths and backgrounds.

why Muslims were living in a pocket before, becouse of security reason during riot, it was rampant before, now when multi story buildings are coming up there is amixed population in the society so the are mixing
Next is culture u will see that a south Indian will mix a south one -A kashmiri will mix within ,so it is but natural Muslim with muslims
Muslims are mostly a true Indian national, but in the name of terrorist what is happening?God knows what is truth

It is true. Their religion considers anyone who's not a Mooslim [sic] to be inferior. Once there are enough Mooslims to form a community they start pushing their religion and customs on others without any regard for other cultures. If they can't do it right away, they retreat, and then try again. It happened most anywhere in the world where they weren't kicked out of. And for people who bring up Malaysia and Indonesia, there are different laws for foreigners, local Christians, and local Mooslims. They don't even allow Mooslims to convert. BTW, Koran demands that those who convert out of Moohamedanism be put to death.
My friend was forced out of his neighborhood by Mooslims who moved in and slowly took over. In five years they managed to build a mosque that sounded the prayer siren every day at 5am. People who were complaining were threatened, eventually most people were forced to move out of what used to be a nice and well established neighborhood. 30 miles outside of Detroit.

Considering that I work with Muslims, and patronize Muslim professional, and we all live and work together peacefully in a cosmopolitan society here in the states (CA, specifically), I'd say, no, Muslims are perfectly capable of living in a Cosmopolitan society.
I'm sure there are many, more fundamentalist Muslims who would prefer to live in a monoculture of thier own design, under rigid Sharia law, though.

practically speaking as one who has traveled a bit.
I have been in places that i had to wear a covering so some radical muslim man didnt hurt us. We were there to help their women and children....
it s true so sad but true.
A ot of muslim here in America and in some in France are not like that.
I have some wonderful muslim friends in the states who are doctors and they are awsome doctors.
I went on a mission Trip with a group of doctors and nurses.
one of the docs was orginally from that country.
He and his family risked all and saved our lives from radical muslims. they were going to kidnap us and kill the males. he got us headgear and clothing and help smuggle us out of that place.
That was a muslim country and we were there in peace and mercy helping suffering people with little or no medical care.
I will never go back to a muslim country again.

I just read James answer! Oh my goodness. I would not ever wear a symbolic religious clothing item because of bullying. I am a Christian and they ever try to harm me they would have consequences. The British government better deport or jail such criminals.

I lived next door to a Muslim last year. He was pretty cool. He didn't try to force anything down my throat and he never walked into my room and blew himself up, though every once in a while he would walk in and give me some food or take some of mine, but that's pretty typical to dorm life.
He is from Pakistan and his entire family lives in Oklahoma without conflict.
