I'm not sure how long your period is for this cycle. My period is normally 5-6 days. This cycle was really weird since it's lasted 22 days (Yes, I know that's crazy). This has NEVER happened to me before. I'm 25 yrs old and have done all types of testing and the doc says that my ovaries/uterus looks perfectly fine. I'm guessing that due to environment change because I was travelling this month, could've caused it....So yesterday my doc prescribed Provera to regulate my cycle. You have to take this tablet once everyday for the next 10 days. Within 5-6 days, the period stops....Then about a week after, the period will start again because it's starting a new cycle......Stress can also cause these type of cycles. Let me also add that I was taking diet pills for the past couple months and laxatives, hoping to lose weight. Doc said that it could be due to those pills....

Depending on how long your period has been this cycle, maybe go see your obgyn......My obgyn first did a papsmear (since I was already due for one this year) on the 15th period day......A week after, which was yesterday, I was still bleeding so she did a transvaginal ultrasound to take a look at my ovaries, uterus, etc....Also did blood test......She just called me today for the blood test result, and everything seems normal....She said to continue taking Provera and then we'll see next cycle how things are....

Good Luck!

If you have a period that lasts more than 8 days, you should call your gynecologist and make an appointment.

There are many things that can cause an irregular period, including stress, diet, hormones, age, etc., which aren't harmful. However there are a few medical disorders that affect the female reproductive organs specifically like endometriosis or ovarian cysts that are not life-threatening in any way, but should be caught early enough so that treatment can be as least invasive as possible. All of the things I listed above can cause a period to be heavier, longer, shorter, skipped completely, painful, etc., and it's difficult for someone online to diagnose a problem like this. See your doctor.

I know how you feel!! like a year ago when my dad was dying...my period lasted for like 2 weeks nearly!!!! I was told that it was because of stress...i am sure you are fine but if you have concerns you might want to see your family doctor or do some internet research.

There could be many causes, stress, temperature changes and hormonal changes.

If you are really concerned you should be making an appointment with your ob/gyn.

Good luck.

It could last up to 10 days.

If it lasts longer I would talk to the doctor.
