I'm 14 years old, and i know that's kind of late to be just starting an acting career. I've been in school plays, but thats it. I'm told i'm very good, and i think i am too. All i have wanted to do my whole life was to be an actress and to be in movies and on television. However, my family doesn't have tons of money to get an agent, and i live in a tiny town in New Jersey. I don't know how to get started. How would you find auditions for movies and shows? I'm so serious about this, i know i can do it and i really want to do it more than anything, but i need help. And this isnt just a phase that a lot of girls go through wanting to be rich and famous.

14 is not too old to start. There is nothing in your question about your background and training, so I assume by that and by your naivete that you have none. The next question is why don't you have any backgound? Agents do not cost money. Just wanting to be an actor does not make an agent interested in you as an actor. Only extraordinary skill or extraordinary beauty will do that. So you have to develop both of those things. In NJ the best place to get acting training is The Tri State Actor's Theater.

I don't think that you are too old to start acting! A lot of actors and actresses get started in their late teens and early twenties, even into their "golden years"

try local theatre groups first. You'll get better known. You shouldn't need money to get an agent. They make their money when they find you paid work and they a percentage - shouldn't be more than 5-10%

I would be sad to say that you must get discovered for it to be easy. But, you could ask your parents to take you to a talent agency and if that doesn't work than send a video of your name age and a reason you would like a chance to addition for a T.V Commercial. Then send it to a agency. Good Luck!
