My son is 11 months old. He is super hyper. He doesn't even want to eat. He struggles with me to breastfeed. It takes over 1 hour now of pure hell to get him to eat. He kicks, screams, arches to get down onto the floor and crawl. I end up having to pump 6-12X per day the extra ounce or so he leaves in there. He won't hold still to even accept a bottle. It takes him an hour sometimes to drink a bottle. We have to chase him around with it. He was on breastmilk plus 2-3 bottles of lacto-free similac daily. He will eat little things like goldfish crackers, fries, bread, etc... But he struggles eating anything else like rice cereals basically anything he has to pay attention or sit still to eat.
His father has ADD but isn't on medication for it so it runs in his family line. I am wondering if he has some form of the hyper disorder. He also cries a lot, he is very needy. We can't get him to not sleep with us. He also only sleeps about 4-6 hours a day and is up and going for the rest.

First make sure he is getting enough sleep.
Second, turn off the TV.
Third, spend a lot of time outdoors.
Fourth, check http://lalecheleague.org for help. Look at nursing strike - it has good stuff for refusing to nurse.
Practicing attachment parenting is usally the fist solution. Get a baby sling http://mayawraps.com
One of the other tips is to nurse when your baby is tired or completely asleep.
Defeinitely see a doctor about it. Needy, active children are usually very fast eaters.

Your son is ready for a cup! He is obviously through with breast feeding. Some babies are content to breast feed into their second year, some wean themselves. Do you have a high-chair for him? Put him in it at meal times, and let him feed himself. He should be eating lots of fruits, vegetables, cereals, etc. by now. He can also start using a spoon for simple things like yogurt (it sticks to the spoon really well). ADD can't be diagnosed before about six years of age. Even if your son is eventually diagnosed, there's no reason for him to run your household. He would probably benefit from sticking to a daily routine, where sleeping, eating, active times are at the same time every day. You can get him to sleep on his own, you just haven't done it yet. It's going to take some work on your part, and you can't backslide. Check out some books on raising an active child. Good luck!

No. There is no medical evidence to substantiate the idea that infant ADHD even exists. He is 11 months old, he's weaned himself from the breast, and he wishes to be mobile and explore his world. Perfectly acceptable for his age. Please don't start looking for illnesses to diagnose your son with every time he misbehaves. He is just being a child. I'm concerned that if you can't justify ADHD now, you'll just reach for it again later. Your son sounds like a healthy, active, energetic kid, which is awesome! Just enjoy him! If you have real concerns and don't trust us yahoos, then take him to your pediatrician.

For one thing, make sure he's getting NO sugar. I feel that is the main cause in children not being able to pay attention and sit still. Look at the formulas ingredients, most of them the second ingredient is Corn Syrup!!!
Also, it may just be a stage. Give him a week or so and see what happens.

I agree, time to ween from the breast, and put him on formula for a month, probably try a soy based in case of milk allergy. No sugar, no juice, instead get him addicted to water.
On a different note, will he look you in the eye? If you sit down in front of him and ask him to look at you does he look in your eyes or try to avoid it? If he does try to avoid it you may want to talk to your pediatrician about Autism, though it may be a little to early to tell. just a thought.
Good luck I know you must be tired.

time to stop breast feeding and give him formula or at this age if the doctor oks it whole milk. when they wont sit still to nurse they no longer need it or want it. if he is eating plenty of solids and growing he should be fine discuss it with his doctor,
there is no such thing as infant adhd, an 11 month old hates to be stopped moving all 11 month olds are like this. this is normal behavior at this age they hate to be stopped
