I think that it all depends on the body weight you are at before you concieve. If you are underweight, I don't think that it is unusual to gain weight right away. I am underweight and for both of my pregnancies, I gained about 15 healthy pounds within the first three months. The doctor said it was good for me and every pound fell off within a few weeks after giving birth. Everybody's body reacts different. Gaining weight was always one of the first pregnancy signs for me. Everyone is different though:o)

It depends on your body. The first two weeks (of counted pregnancy) you really arent pregnant. They just date back to your last period. So you must be talking 4-5 weeks gestational. I am 12 weeks pregnant, and I gained 10 lbs...YES 10 lbs in the first 4-5 weeks! My doctor said it was actually quite normal. And like I said here I am now at 12 weeks, and I lost it all. I am back down to what I was before I was pregnant. here is a breakdown....

Healthy Weight Before Pregnancy:
3-5 pounds during the first trimester
Approximately 1-2 pounds per week in the second trimester
Approximately 1-2 pounds per week in the third trimester
Underweight Before Pregnancy:
5-6 pounds or more in your first trimester; this also can depend on how underweight you were before pregnancy & your health care provider's recommendations
1-2 pounds per week in the second and third trimesters
Overweight Before Pregnancy:
Approximately 1-2 pounds in the first trimester
Approximately 1 pound per week during the last six months

Do you mean 2-3 weeks from conception or 2-3 weeks from your last period?

2-3 weeks from conception is actually considered 4-5 weeks pregnant.

I am 7 weeks pregnant and yes I have already put on about 2lbs. But this is because my body is suddenly making me hungry every 3 hours. I am trying to eat several small meals instead of large ones. But I am expecting twins so that might be out of the norm.

No, the baby isn't even the size of a grain of rice at that point & most don't even know they are pregnant. Even in the first trimester (the first 12 weeks) the average weight gain is under 5lbs, most only gain 1-2lbs at that point.

You can either lose or gain weight early in pregnancy, it just depends on the changes happening in your body. Usually if you are gaining weight that early, it's just water retention, but it is possible to just gain extra weight if your appetite increases.

Everyone's body is different. It varies from person to person. The ideal weight to gain before 20 wks is 10 lbs. then I believe it's half a lb. a week after that.

I don't think you should actually be gaining weight. You may just be feeling bloated. I am currently 5 wks and I look heavier but weight the same because it is all bloat.
