I clean mine periodically by descaling the mineral deposits with vinegar. I bring about a cup to boil in the kettle. The whole thing doesn't need to be filled because the vinegar steam loosens the deposits. Then I run water in it (full) until I don't see any more scale running out of it. Mine is stainless on the outside so I just use Zep stainless cleaner that I use on my cooktop to get the grease spatters and stuff from it being on the stove while cooking.

Fill it with diluted vinegar and then boil. Leave for 15 minutes and then empty. Refill with clean water only and boil (do this twice to remove the vinegar smell). Fill with clean water and use as normal.

use lemon and baking soda as a paste. It with not scar the finish. If there are grease splatterings on it, try a product called Greased lightening. Spray it on, let it sit and rinse it off. Repeat if necessary. Foracleanhome.com

I agree with eskie lover. I do the same thing then give it a quick scrub with a dobie pad while it is still hot.

We use oxyclean. Pour in very hot water and add oxyclean and let it set. After about a hour then we pour it out and rinse very well. good luck.
