It would be better for the female to leave her out of the hatchery. Granted if she should have the fry while you are gone, most if not all will be eaten, but on the other hand, you run a far higher risk of her dieing before they are born if she's in the hatchery for that long with no food.

I say keep her healthy even if it does risk the fry, she can have another batch in about a month, but not if she dies while you are gone.

signs of a platy ready to give birth are when she stops feeding, stays on the bottom of the tank or looks for places to hide. platys are usually pregnant up to 3-4 weeks. If you want to speed up pregnancy then raise the tank temp bout 2 degrees.
id advise u to put her in da hatchery now cuz dey mite b born b4 u come back. she mite last anudder week but jus incase some r born.

Is this a filtered hatchery?

If not I'd just give the fry a bunch of good places to hide until you get back.

I have lots of livebarers in 1 of my tanks, its got lots of fry plants and java moss. I keep a eye on my fish that are preggers and wait till they give birth. Then i get my turkey baster and sook up the fry with this and put them into the fry net that is in another tank. my fish had babies last night and i got 10 fry out of the tank. they are now in the fry net and doing well. If you put your platy in the fry trap she will become very stressed and could either abort her pregnancy or die from the shock. I have raised lots of fry this way with no probs infact i have bought a new tank that is for fish that i have brought up. Its great looking at the fish and knowing you have reared them from birth

put them in a fish hatchery. and make sure that you have somebody to watch them and to feed them. from what your saying, the fish should give birth any day now.
