The key word in your question is "insanity."
The blood lust and deranged tactics of these different sects cannot possibly be explained with a normal, common sense analysis.
They seem to relish the slaughter of their own citizens - and some continue to call them "freedom fighters!"
And that comparison is just another example of insanity - this time from some of our own citizens in this country.

Two ways to answer.

Iraq (and much of the middle east) has been engaged in a civil/sectarian conflict for centuries. We didn't create that.

In Iraq particularly, Saddam ruled very strictly, and kept the random violence at a minimum through very harsh laws.

We deposed Saddam, without there being any other group that could maintain peace, and without there being any interest among the general population in everyone getting along. Hence, not surprisingly, as soon as Saddam was gone, the civil/sectarian violence all flared up.

So, some people feel obligated to try and resolve the problem, because it was our actions that created the situation which allowed the insanity (the constant violence).

Some do not feel an obligation, but think we should anyway, because we might be able to get some oil out of the deal.

Some do not feel an obligation, and think it just hurts us to remain.

I read the whole story and didn't see any comment or accusation about it being the US's fault. Were you perhaps trying to say something about the people who do blame America for everything, usually because they're too short sighted to see beyond what other people tell them?
