Hi Aquilino P,

Some online AV scanners have the most up to date definitions.

You can to have these by doing updates to the AV that you have installed.
Also, it is easier for most users to just go do a scan online instead of taking the time to start the scan and walk away.

I fail to see the reasoning behind the latter of these. I usually start my scan (on my computers AV) and the go to bed and let it do it's thing. Also I do online scans with Anti-Spyware scans. Although I have the same program on my system, it's easier for me to scan online and sometimes faster.

Not all antivirus programs find all the potential issues. There are multiple different types of "bugs" that can infect your computer, not all of them are viruses.

If your antivirus is updated you don't need to make an online scan.
