My son is a paraplegic and they give him a medication with THC in it to give him an appetite. They said if marijuana was legal he could just smoke that. (the Doctor said it jokingly of course). But I thought, why not let the American farmers grow it, so America can reap the profits.

Some of you guys have totally misunderstood my question. I do not smoke nor condone smoking marijuana. I just thought that if we were using it for medical purposes then why can't our farmers grow it for those particular medical purposes and reap the profits from it. I am not at all advocating "smoking weed" to get high.

Ronnie-You are right. My son is very sick and I pray that you never have a son experience what my son has. But I can assure you, he is not and neither am I, an idiot.

Click on "re:" on the third post(don't click on the question). It gives you an idea of the effects of this drug.Others offer good advice too directly related to your question like my other posts also. At one point i say it should not be legal i say that mostly because its a second income for many poor people.

Marijuana as to be grown. If its a farmers or government scientist whats the difference. The THC in your drugs where produced legally, i mean where else did they take it.You miss understood your doctor he meant you could just smoke it instead of taking it in a pill. Did you see the price of your drugs do you really think America is not making a profit selling legal drugs with THC in them.Your doctor was being polite in suggesting that street marijuana as more THC and thus more potent and more appetite forming. Legal drugs have very little THC in them. I tried two once never even noticed the effects. You can eat marijuana but it will take 3 times more to get the same effects as smoking it. If you want real THC content its not in those pills.

For the "queen as spoken" your site is very biassed it doesn't give the positives like medical uses and on top of that it exagerates the symptoms...it says it can be damaging for the lungs ok if your smoking it(i smoke 25 legal cigarettes a day, maybe 3-4 illegal joints and what about taking it in a pill...like the heart beats go up 50% because we hold are breaths, you try holding your breath to see what happens, it says its a gate way drug but what do you call alcohol....look if you want neutral advice your not going to get it from a drug prevention site! Like bash bash bash all you want the positives are still there and it doesn't increase your credibility if you only point out negatives.Like the section "Harmful Effects of Marijuana" says it significantly increases chance of lung cancer, inflammation and infection. But the study in section "Smoking Marijuana" says that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer. would you trust a study or an opinion. You decide.

Could you/somebody point out where they got the info that marijuana impairs or causes accidents on the road, i just can't take a blunt statement like that at face value without some evidence.

i definatley agree with you. in reality marijuana is less harmful than alcohol or smoking cigarettes. there have been no known cases of a person dying from Marijuana induced inability to drive. no one has overdosed on Marijauna. there is no such thing as refer madness. all in all Weed is much safer as a recreational drug, and actually has medicinal uses, unlike tabbaco or alcohol.
But if the government took it off the list of most harmful drugs on the planet, then the lobbyists that make sure it stays illegal would whine. You have to look at why it is ilegal. there is no scientific backing for the governments classification of the plant as a harmful chemical. It is not addictive, like most drugs out there, OTC or otherwise. You can get lung cancer from it smoking it, but you dont have to smoke it to reap the rewards.

But the real reason that noone wanted weed legal back in the day is because you can make a bio fuel out of it, it is better than cotton for use in textiles and rope. its cheaper to grow, and has less issues. in all it would bankrupt the cotton industry, and cut into the oil industry which at the time of its classification were the main industrys in the US. Also it would quickly replace tabacco as the main plant used in smoking being that it has no niccotine, or additives.

I think that there is a consipiracy to keep it ilegal, especially since some states have already legalized it for medicinal purposes and the Government oversteps its jurisdiction to go in and hassle the people set up by those states to grow and distribute it.

Lettie thousands of people are killed by drunk drivers every year in America. Thousands more are injured by them. Alocohol is legal and the government collects taxes from it; but do we really want to kill another bunch of American's so some people can smoke weed and get high? I'm not opposed to medical usage but having seen the carnage of alocohol on the road - I hate the idea of legalizing drugs like this.

What your son gets does not contain "all" the bad stuff in marijuana. Even medical use as in your son's case is by special need.

Just the med contains the active ingredient which even so does have some changes on the way the brain works.

Read this website for the long list of side effects from marijuana... http://www.marijuanaaddiction.info/harmful-effects-of-marijuana.htm
No do you think everyone should be allowed free access?

Yes it should, the amount of jobs it would create, the more people who would not go to prison(if it was legal people would not be stealing for it)But that will never happen, you can`t even smoke a cigarette in a bar anymore.
