Is there any kind of larger fish (4-6'') that can be happily kept in a 25 gallon aquarium?

Most Gouramis will be okay, just make sure you know what kind and what size that particular Gourami gets. Angelfish aren't a good option because they will be quite stressed by the lack of space for their tall fins. Also, they will eat small fish like Neon Tetras and Guppies.

How about a kissing gourami and about 2 glass fish. Should work fine and both are really cool. Google some pics of them.

Angel fish. they grow to be 5-7". get about 4-5, and mix and match the different types.
