I have a tank of livebearers, my main problem is that i have 6 platies and i noticed that one of my platies has had some of its tail eaten or something else!! None of the other fish in the tank have this problem so i doubt it vey much that it is tail rot> so what is it ?

In the tank they are with guppys, swordtails, mollies and 2 gouramis ( babies)

It's probably just some nipping. Swordtails can be quite the nippers. Watch to see if it is gets worse or if that fish is hiding a lot or if you can see which fish is the guilty nipper. In most cases like this the only answer is to remove one of the two fish. I would suggest removing the nipper becuase if you remove the bitten fish, the nipper will just choose another target.

Sounds like you have incompatable fish. Sometimes fish don't like each other, and start chasing them and tearing up their fins. I'm not sure who the culprit is, though. Try asking somebody at an aquarium store if any of your fish would be considered aggresive.

it depends on what other types of fish you have with the platys, there is alot of fish that like to nip their tails.
