Why?

A friend of mine recently admitted that he chose not to participate in his high school graduation exercise, no cap or gown, but instead he picked up his diploma at school. I told him if I did that, my family would hit the roof and force me to go.

I went to mine, but my brother did not. He had a few reasons. For one, he had dropped out of high school, decided it was a mistake, and came back the following year. He did not feel a real kinship with the class he would be graduating with. Secondly, he kind of felt like it was a sham. Having been picked on a lot in school, he felt no need to "share" some "special day" with most of the people he graduated with.

I have not have been given any etiquette references, even though it may be impolite to pass uninvited. What have you ever executed to reason this chilly shoulder out of your loved ones? in case you will possibly desire to congratulate your sister mail a card and present with a message soliciting for her to call you, so which you would be able to perchance meet someplace exterior the living house and not reason a issue for what would desire to be an substantial day on your sisters existence. you won't desire to detract any interest from the graduate and reason a scene.

you sort of answered your own question on this one. just like funerals are not for the deceased graduation ceremonies are generally not for the graduate but rather for the family and friends. i have not attended any graduations for my self unles required to do so (im military so some times im required to bethere weather i care or not.). no high school, no college. my friends and my family are aware of the mile stones and many parties were held and drinks were bought but as for sitting throught the ceremony or asking some one else to watch me sit through the ceremony, its just not important enough for me.

I didn't.

Just had no desire to go.

We had a big surprise party for me and my Dad gave me a "diploma" he had written.

But when I graduated college, my mother insisted we do the ceremony, as I'd gotten away with NOT doing the high school one.
