If you go swimming with a pad, it will absorb the water anyway. If you don't like using tampons, then just avoid swimming until you get off.

You know honestly alot of people will tell you that you can NOT swim with a pad in...but my friend was on her period one time and she tried the whole tampon thing and it didn't really work out for her...anyway her aunt told her that she could still wear a pad she just had to change it more often...from what a read from what other people say you don't flow while you are in the water but you do once you come out....so basically you just need something to stop that flow. If you tend to come in and out of the water alot...then you will have to change your pad more often...but if you go in and stay in until it is time to go you should be fine...now I have not personally done this but if my friend hadn't told me I would have never known she was on her period and we were with her boy cousins too so it wasn't embarassing or anything...but yes most people will say that wearing a tampon is better and I agree. It is also more comfortable in my opinion. Try them a few times you will get used to them.

either use a tampon or dont go , contrary to popular belief that your period stops in the water its not true there is more water than blood so the water quickly disperses it. as soon as you step out of the pool you will have bright red blood pouring down them

I've been swimming for a pretty long time. Now I'm training for a tournament, and I don't want to miss swimming because of my period. Some other girls told me that I can still get into the pool because it stops when in the water. Is that correct? Is there any way I can swim?

Menstrual bleeding does not stop in water. The best thing to do to be able to continue swimming while on your period is to use a tampon. This is very effective at preventing leakage of blood -- just put a fresh tampon in before you get into the pool and change it after you get out.

Don't go swimming with a pad...it will absorb water like a diaper and then leak blood into the water. If you don't like using tampons then you will have to wait till your period is over to go swimming

You can't swim with a pad because it will make it ineffective. If you can't stand tampons, you'll have to wait. Otherwise, if you can deal with them (it sounds like you might be young, and they do take a while to get used to!) you can definitely swim. When I first starting using tampons it took me almost an hour to get one in! Now it's quicker than a pad, but you've got to practice at it. DON'T PRACTICE WHEN YOU AREN'T ON YOUR PERIOD, pulling them out dry can hurt! Good luck.

Wow, umm...I was on a swim team for 10 years and I didn't miss a beat when I started getting my periods. I used tampons when I was on my period, because I was able to educate myself about the minimal size for my flow pattern to use. Otherwise, it's not sanitary for you or other swimmers if you try with a pad.

Yes you can go swimming but I would definitely use a tampon. Try using the slim ones.... they might be more comfortable for you. Once a pad gets wet it is useless, not to mention it might fall out.

DON'T go swimming with a pad, they fall apart if you can see the wings of them out side of your bathing suit. If you don't want to wear a tampon, then take a 15 minute shower before u go swimming. That will hold off your period for a little while so you can go swimming! Have fun!
