I used to have a heart that skips and he uses a stethoscope on me. Should he be doing that?

He insists on doing it, even though I've said no, He says I am his daughter and it is his right to listen to my heartbeats.

how do you feel about it, i mean no matter how hold you get that will always be your dad, and he loves you, i don't find it weird that he would want to do that , no matter how old you are,

i have and 18 year old boy and trust me if he needs something i am always the first he comes to because he trust me, so if you feel funny, let him know but you should not.

hope it works out take care :))))))))))))))))

SweatPea providing he is doing so in a loving and caring way because of your health I see no problem with this. If he is doing so to attempt to turn you on or for his own sexual gratification then that is inappropriate. By your age you should know whether or not he is doing so out of concern. If it doesn't feel right let him know that you want it to stop. You are actually in the drivers seat here. If he refuses to listen to you and you still don't feel right then inform someone who you are close with about this and move out of his home for your own safety. Hopefully all is good and you and your dad can come to a compromise over this.

Yes it's ok under certain conditions. If you have a heart arrhythmia and he checks after you complain of symptoms, exercised, etc, then fine.

If he checks all the time for the fun of it, weird.

Irregardless, if you're 18 and uncomfortable, tell him you learned how to check it yourself. No biggie. Should be a non-issue. If it becomes an issue, then you have a problem and you should bring it to someone else's attention.

That's fine as long as he's not using his hand and placing it on any sensitive areas. There is a problem, however, if you refuse to be checked and he forces you to let him "check your heartrate." If it gets uncomfortable for you, tell him so. Leave it to a doctor to check your well-being. You're an adult and fully able to tell him to get lost if he's bothering you.

I think you are old enough to check your own heart rate. Tell him that.

if it doesn't go further than listening to your heart? however, if you're uncomfortable with it, tell your father you'd rather go to a doctor, and let him know why!! "because i'm uncomfortable with you doing that"...

can't be much simpler....

I checked my son's heart rate the other day. Big deal.

As long as he's using it properly, why would you even think it was an issue?

If he's doing it right and there isn't any overt reason to be concerned it is fine.

Why do you care?! he is doing nothing wrong.

If you are so uncomfortable with it maybe you should learn to do it yourself =/
