Do you think it's weird that women often voice boy parts in cartoons. Like Ash Ketchum off Pokemon, he was voiced by a girl for years. What is your opinion on this. There are alot of other cases like this.

The first male-Ranma dub voice was Sarah Strange, though most of the dub was done by Richard Ian Cox, the same guy who is now doing Inu-Yasha's voice.

Teenage and younger boys tend to have high-pitched voices that sound fairly close to an adult woman's natural voice, and are tough for adult man to mimic. So it's not too surprising that the roles often go to women.

a chick (nancy cartwright) also does the voice for bart simpson... its cool as long as they can play the part rite. It makes sense for a cartoon bc a girls voice will always be a little higher so they can play a boys role for a while. As for an actual boy playing it, after a few years his voice will get deep and won't be able to play the part anymore.

no, for male characters before peuberty, a male adult cannot get his voice high enough, and because so few male child actors are very good, they call in females, an example of this would be Tara Strong, She is known for

Ben 10 as Ben Tennyson/Upgrade
Fairly Odd Parents as Timmy Turner
Powerpuff Girls as Bubbles
Drawn Together as Princess Clara/Toot Braunstein
Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 as Rikku
Tales of Symphonia as Presea Combatir
Teen Titans as Raven
Lilo and Stitch: The Series/Leroy and Stitch as Angel
Transformers: Heroes as Sari
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops as Elisa/Ursula

No, I don't think it's weird, women have higher voices to pull off the voices of boys before puberty.

Not necessarily. It's kind of hard for grown men to impersonate younger boys, considering boys' voices are sort of high pitched. It seems like it would be easier for a woman to play a boy's role considering their voices are higher.

Yeah and sometimes it confuses me. My ex was really into Inuyasha and the character Jakotsu (I think?) was voiced by a woman, but the characters kept referring to the person as a "he." Took me a while to figure out that it was supposed to be a man.
