I'm not touching this one with a ten foot pole. Too many answerers are coming off as totally uneducated in this topic. "Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves and he was a Republican"? Seriously, read a book people.

The reason why African American Republicans don't show up at such events is because they're totally biased from the start. There is no point in it. Is there any chance ever that the NAACP or the Urban League would support a Republican for President? Of course not. Why then should they waste their time. Ridiculous. Be honest for a change.

You would be surprised at just how many black Republicans there are. They are the ones who see that the Democrats don't care about them, they just know if they get the majority of the blacks on their side in the south then they will win the south in votes. Beyond that what have Democrats ever really done that seriously helped out the blacks? The lot of them all seem to be in the same places they were 10 years ago. It is their choice to get out and do something and you will see the successful blacks doing just that. But the poor blacks discredit the successful ones by saying they "turned their backs on their race" all out of jealousy like democrats do when it comes to personal wealth. Just because some people both black and white don't want to get off of their lazy butts shouldn't use political parties or their own race as leverage to make excuses for their pitiful lives of going nowhere.
Black conservatives or Republicans seem to be a lot happier than the liberal, democrat black people. Or else why would the democrat black people always be complaining about being poor and everything and the Republican blacks are not? Sure there are both in each category, but I am merely talking about the majorities.
Not like NAACP cares about anything but trying to get more money by suing white people. Look at the Duke Lacrosse case. NAACP comes in and talks about all the racism and it turns out the Prosecutor, who is a Democrat and white, had the "victim", a black girl, which was eaten up by people all over in thinking she was the victim for being black and within a white group. So of course she is the victim because NAACP would see it racist if said otherwise and then sue not only Duke but also the state and DA office. NAACP seems more for slowing down than advancing because from the looks of it all they try to find in every single situation is something that has not happened in over 200 years and over 50 years ago. There is no slavery, there is no fire hoses being turned on the mobs of black people, even when the black people are rioting; Los Angeles and Cincinnati to name a few examples. From the looks of it they were all left alone while they were rioting because of the police force being afraid of getting sued by the NAACP for being "racist" of arresting the rioting black people.
So Democrats just use the black people for a majority of the black people's votes in the south. Nothing more or less. Just votes and after they get the votes the black people will end up where they were before the Democrats were elected in poor, fed up, and angry at the government and trying to find someone else to blame.

If you’re implying that any politicians truly care about anything outside of the ability to say look at me I have power then I am afraid you miss the point. It is true that the democratic platforms generally support domestic reform on paper but it is interesting that the same problems exist whether under democratic or republican rule. If you at all think that because someone showed up at a meeting it means they care then why has nothing changed, I'll cast my vote with they were there for votes, nothing more. Bunch of millionaires talking about helping the poor but there still millionaires, that I find incredibly amusing.

Do you want African Republicans or American Republicans. When are you going to wake up that organization like the NAACP, LULAC, United ***** College Fund, Italian-American Association, Black Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce etc., are part of the problem and not part of the solution. If you are an American, say you are an American. You should have allegiance to one nation and if its not the one you're in, leave. African heritage has nothing to do with American citizenship and this will be a bigoted prejudiced society until we the people quit putting ourselves in special sub-categories. There is no problem with demanding equal rights, but there is a problem with demanding special considerations and benefits based on color, creed, religion, gender, ethnicity, cultural differences etc. Wake up and smell what you are shoveling ... a bunch of racist propaganda to stir the pot and arouse anger and bitterness, when in fact there has been no adverse action taken against the sub-category of Americans that you are trying to incite anger in.

Would it possibly be because both of those organizations are left-wing race card playing groups??? Not all black people are out to blame the evil white man for their plight, they see that they have the same opportunities. All you have to do is try and you can succeed. Leave the whole racial BS stuff at the door and life would be better for everyone.

Wrong, Republicans care about African Americans as much as any American but
Republicans do not care about the NAALCP or the Urban League, because they promote racism.

Why do you think you can buy the African American vote with taxpayer handouts and subsidies ... or preferential hiring because you think they aren't good enough to compete? Many don't think that is the way to success ...it is infact the way to keep them down.
And when you see African Americans make something of themselves...It is YOU who throw them under the bus...claiming they deny their heritage

Yes, because when they did show up in the past, they were met with such "respect" and "common courtesy" from the audience who were so willing to listen with an "open mind".
