Yes I Disagree... there is good and bad and just the thought of them does not make them so.

Yes. Perception dictates the entire aura of a situation, thus by thinking something is negative, it becomes negative. Simply put many of our presumptions, stereotypes, and biases as to what's good or bad is dictated by society and in truth ludicrous in that nothing is truly "good" or "bad."

My sentiments also go out to the notion that there are victories or loses. These terms are analogous to good and bad in that they make distinctions between different situations not taking into effect that even the most negative situations may result in exceptionally positive out comes and vice versa.
For example, take the decimation of a group of people. The economist may say, it leads to a positive outcome in that it is a part of "human population control." However the humanitarian may say it is positive because it poses as a warning to other groups of people. Such is the way of the world.
Likewise there may be a construction of a skyscraper bent on helping the disabled and/or homeless. Although the general public perceives this as good (and note whatever the general public thinks for a region/area will most likely be considered the norm) but an environmentalist may perceive it is bad.
The key is perception, because nothing is good or bad, we just think it to be that way.

We live,so we have to determine.Pointing out what is "good" and what is "bad" helps us to do things more easily and makes us believe what we do is effective and not harmful to ourselves.
As the matter of fact, there's no such a really "good" thing or a really "bad" thing.Sometimes, they can even get exchanged.
For a fly,it likes to eat rotten meat, while the meat is YUCK for us human beings. And for us,we don't usually go to dirty places like the flies do,but the flies can still enjoy it~!
So it depends on what we get used to.In the difficulties we can make a difference, but some people might take it as an excuse to get brought down.Since then, are these difficulties a "good" thing or a "bad" thing?
What we are talking about is just our ways to live a proper life, not for everybody, not for everything.Nothing is static, you can choose the way you like. But remember, what you "see" is just your point of view, every leaf has both sides, when it has both sides it is accomplished, you are only a visitor...

Well if I came across a scene where a fellow was laying on the ground dead and saw his pockets turned out and watch ring wallet ect missing I might get some rather bad thoughts about what had happened there. How would a passing goose or dog see the scene?
Reasoning draws conclusions, and sometimes grants the conclusion. But it dose not make the reality so.

This is a very eastern philosophy in the sense that all things have an innate duality which is well represented by the Yin and Yang symbol. Both aspects of this duality are neither good nor evil, they are simply opposites of one another. That being said, many people choose to interpret this symbol as good and evil----leading them to believe that there is good and evil in all things; but that must mean that one thing must be more good than evil or vice-versa. Originally, Yin and Yang represented the duality of the masculine and the feminine, but one became more prefered over the other. Over time, the masculine became dominant over the feminine, which also led people to believe that all things masculine was good and all things feminine were bad. This is also still a popular belief in the east as far as children--the vast majority of couples prefer to have a boy, whereas a girl is undesired.

This concept of labeling the opposite aspects of duality as either good or evil can also apply to situations and acts. Murder can either be seen as good or evil---if one is murdered in cold blood then people assume its an evil act; if one if murdered out of self defense, then the act is seen as unavoidable (please disregard the technical legal meaning of murder---its used here simply to mean taking anothers' life).

I disagree on that statement. Just by merely thinking that something isn't right doesn't make it wrong already. It's just that people judge things and they think that everything they don't like is bad and the things they like is good. Of course there are good and bad things, it's just that you have to know if what you're doing will benefit others or would harm them.

u mean there is no absolute standard, only matter of perception? Try imagine with me :
1. Your most loved one is raped or murdered, what do u say?
2. Someone vandalised your brand new car, do u say it's ok?
3. You are fired just becos yr boss don't like your shirt color today. Do you still feel nuetral?

I believe in absolute good and bad, absolute truth. Not all thing can be explained away by perception.

To me, nothing is good or bad unless they have been labelled and judged. Is pushing or shoving to get aboard the train good or bad? From where I come from, it is socially termed as "bad", whereas in Japan, it is an acpetable practice. We were all brought up differently, conditioned by our society, schools, parents, etc. How about before making any judgements, just accept the "good" or "bad" as just as it is. Release that internal fight to label. I have been using this method (as much as I can), and it has given lots of clarity. Thinking is neither good or bad. Everything is as it is.

Of course there is such a thing as good and bad. Moral values have been established so that we'll be able to live a more harmonious life. Rape, pedophilia, theft, arson -- these are all bad. It's not just a thought. We can never say that rape is neither good nor bad -- that's just crazy.

Of course there is good and bad. There are good people, ones you trust, and bad people, folks who would steal you blind or abuse a trust. There are good deeds and bad deeds, like the heroics we have just seen in the Minnesota trajedy. Bad deeds like the sickos we see on Dateline Predator.

There are good days and bad days, like yesterday when I was off and spent the day on Dad's houseboat fishing and listening to music. Or bad days like when terrorists attack innocent people.

Thinking exists in the mind of the thinker. Good exists in most everyone, while bad is in the stinker.
