Without question and without a doubt, George Washington, and I'll tell you why. He fought for this country before "this country" even really existed. He had an ideal of creating a system of government where the people truly rule. He agreed to be the first president, and people were ready to crown him as a king, or at least president for life. But he said no, that was not what they fought for, and he went back to his farm. The man had integrity and he set a standard for everyone that followed him.

Tough question! I would have to say Roosevelt, after all, he was elected four times (1933 to 1945). FDR, had the confidence of the American people after the Great Depression and through World War II. Now remember that on the other side of that coin, the President wasn't scrutinized and criticized constantly as he is today with the mass media and people believing that the "public deserves to know" every tiny detail of the workings of the Presidency, and Congress wouldn't dare challenge his Executive Privilege and survive another election.

The best man? Probably Teddy Roosevelt. Although Grant was quite a drinker and a soldier. Maybe a tie between the two.

For most least manly president, I think Carter edges out Clinton.

George Washington, James K. Polk, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower were probably those with the highest amount of integrity, honesty, and steadfastness that I can think of.
