I agree with the first answer.
So no, I do not think you need to change the skin tone. But you may want to change the background, so that the whole avatar does not look like it is the same color.

Match the color of your avatar to your skin tone as closely as possible, and for goodness sakes... please don't change anything to suit the ignoramuses on this site!
