He engages in what maybe the most publicized form of compition, NFL, which gave him fame and fortune. He has many legal forms of gambling at his disposal. Why did he risk his career and freedom for dog fighting? Is there some kind of psycological explaination?

The same reason why a lot of people with a lot of money do things like this. They are simply bored and don't know what else to do. All that hundreds of thousands of dollars he made from being in the NFL, the nice big house he lived in, the fortune he acquired due to being apart of the NFL and he threw it all away for something as stupid and little as dog fighting. Making a couple thousand, or probably hundreds of dollars in something like this. When you have a lot of money and have everything within a arm's length away from you, you are going to want to do other things that are in a way, how to say, unorthodox and illegal because it provides something money cannot buy in traditional means.

In his case it is dog fighting, it gave him something to do because more than likely with all his money he could everything else but that gets boring. But dog fighting provided a thrill to him. That is what I think anyways and if anyone disagrees, fine then. But I do know this: when you have more money than you know what to do with and have next to no self-control you are going to end up down a bad path. Look at all these celebrities, sports jocks, and other folks with all this money. They end up in drugs, alcohol, and other usually illegal forms. Sure this does not apply to all, I know that.

In Michael Vick's case he found his edge in dog fighting. Boredom can lead to bad paths.

Even people who are not rich and have all this money and became jaded to regular life entertainment. Say no jobs, and nothing else to do with their life, they will get into alcohol, drugs, crimes, and other things. How if they kept busy with a job, social interactions, and other forms of staying out of the house and keeping busy they will find they get into less trouble. Keeping busy keeps out of trouble.

This is a power thing. He's still got bosses in the NFL. In his dog fighting world, he was the boss. Some people are also pregenetically engineered for things like this. The psycologists say that one of the first signs of a murderer is that they get a thrill out of killing animals or that they have no regrets with it. God fighting isn't about gambeling or money. It's about the power and the adrenaline rush, when you see an animal tearing another animal apart. The feeling of control of having another living beings life in your hands. That's what it was about and you can't do that in the NFL.

Because he doesn't respect animals, nature, and has no love in his heart. Dog fighting is disgusting, and I hope he serves the entire 6 years if convicted.
