I used to get these horrific charlie horses in my legs as a kid. It could have been anytime of day, during a physical activity or during sleep. I still get them but not as bad as an adult.

I would like to hear some suggestions on how to keep these at bay. I already eat a lot foods high in potassium, but it doesn't seem to help.

Note: I am a salsa dancer and I deplete my food storage fast during the several hours of dancing I put in a day.

Potassium is ineffective without magnesium just like vitamin d is needed for calcium to be absorbed same thing here you need both. So try adding magnesium along with potassium in your diet. And drink plenty of water.

you could try adding magnesium to your diet. Supplements are available that are easy to take and relatively inexpensive.

The other thing your body may be lacking is water. Research has shown that this can cause leg cramps and if you are a dancer then that could be a contributing factor.
