He's 20 years old,but has a mind of a child.He has a crush on me,and other girls as well,cause he chased them around the park lol.One time at the park me and my kids said hi to him,and I gave him a friendly hug like I always do when I see him,cause he's a cool guy.Ever since then he thinks I'm his girlfriend,and tells other people that knows him that.I only tell him that I'm just your friend,but he seems like he ignores that.How can I convience him that I'm only his friend,and nothing more without hurting his feeling?

Just teasing a little... but having worked with mentally handicapped, I can understand how you might feel. Especially if you don't know him well, then you wouldn't know if he could be violent if you reject him.
I would ask around for people who know him, maybe if he has a parent or big brother, and talk to them about the situation. Ask them to tell him that you're not his boo, and he needs to leave you alone. If he doesn't leave you alone, then you'll either have to get the police involved, or worse case--go to another park.

If you are not uncomfortable with this young man and his obvious admiration for you, there is no reason to hurt his feelings. His idea of a girlfriend is more than likely far removed from what most people consider a girlfriend. It is similar to a school boy's crush on his teacher. Other people who frequent the park also realize he has the mind of a child, and therefore would not take his comments seriously. If you are married, take your husband along and introduce them. This might curb some of his fantasy.

Ok you said you and your kids? So does this mean you are at least 18 and older? If so then yes be straight up with him and just tell him you are friends! It would probably be wise to have someone with you just in case you never know how unstable someone can be inside you know! If you are under age then you need to tell your parents! A 20 year old man has no business lurking around girls ages 16 and under!

If he is mentally challenged, I don't know if he would understand. Just let him be. Careful not to hurt his feelings. As long as it's just a crush, let him have his fantasy. If it goes beyond that and he starts being aggressive or "handsy", then you may want to find another park. Mentally handicapped people are attracted to others too, they just don't understand how it works. Be kind, remember you are also guiding your children how to treat others by example.

That is a wired situation ! I think if he is has a mind of a child . I would try to stay away from him! Cause he can turn around and being to stalk you and your children! If you have to hurt his felling then do it . Like i said he can be a dangerous person! Good Luck and God Bless!!

You descibe him as if he is mildly retarded. If this is true, then he is living in a fantasy world. You are his princess, and he is the frog. Ugh!
Anyway, as an adult, assumption as you said you have kids, you should be able to control this situation, just by acting as an adult. If he gets too "friendly", just tell he strongly and sternly, No! Then walk away. Do not try to confront him.

It sounds like the man is really slow or maybe even mentally handicapped. I know a boy like the one you describe. He also takes things too far, you're going to hurt his feelings, he's going to be upset, but it's never usually long, nor does it traumatize him. However, if it persists, yes, it's time to get whatever group home he's with or the police, they can assist you.

I knew a guy like that who did the same thing to me. In the end I had to cut all communication off from him. He got so bad he became a stalker for a while.

you cant really he wont understand. try to avoid the park when you know he is there if you know what group home he lives in talk to them. you have to be very careful with the mentally challenged
