Put a wet washcloth in the refridgerator until it's nice a cold. Use it to massage your babies gums, but make sure it's not too cold or it may take his breath away. You can try the teething tablets, I never did but some people say they work. If all else fails, just see if your baby will let you put your finger in it's mouth and massage the gums (my daughter loved that)... Orajel never worked for my daughter either and she wouldn't use the rings, but I've read that FirstStep has come out w/ a new teething ring that vibrates that babies really love, those may be helpful

If it continues you could possibly speak to your baby's doctor and see if they have anything you can use

I feel your pain. when my son started teething at 5 1/2 months I tried it all..orajel, cold washcloths, teething ring (he hated them!), ziewback toast, spoons etc none of that worked for him..unfortunately. then only comfor that he found was from his pacifier and just being held. At night time or during the day when it seemed as though the pain was too much for him I'd give him tylenol. It's a very tough/hard stage to go through but hang in there because it does get easier in time!

My favorite teething trick is a frozen waffel. It has wonderful texture, keeps cold quite well, is ok if it breaks off in baby's mouth, and best of all it soaks up the mountians of drool! My son loved them, and he was/is a miserable teether. I would, however, stay away from the baby oragel. It can make gums hard, and therefore harder to get teeth through. It can also effect the rest of the mouth making it hard for them to suck untill it wears off. Watch the use of the tylonal. The more it is used, the less effective it is. Only give tylonal if there is a fever. Good luck, it will get better. Just wait until those teeth start comming out!

I give my daughter Humphrey's... they have a regular kind and a cherry kind, but they are homeopathic and take her pain away without knocking her out. I just put 2-3 tablets in between her gums and her lip.

I'm personally not a big fan of giving medicine like Tylenol, Motrin, or Benadril when my baby doesn't need it .There are plenty of other methods to make your baby feel better, and the more you use them unnecessarily the less effective they are when you need them.

My little girl also liked a frozen washcloth (w/ half of it dry so it isn't cold on her hands) and once I had introduced her to more foods I got a couple of these "Fresh Food Feeders" by the Munchkin brand and I put frozen fruit in them.

I included a link to Wal-greens so you can see what the Humphrey's look like, and one to the Munchkin website so you can see the fresh food feeders.

Good Luck!

Give tylenol or motrin around the clock every 4-6 hours, depending on what you're using. Baby Orajel and Ambesol can burn tender gums, so try not to use those. Cold is good for sore gums too - the cold wet washcloth is a really good idea. A frozen bagel is also good - just not right out of the freezer - let it sit for a few minutes first. My coworker said her son loved the big hard sourdough pretzels to gnaw on because the salt cut his gums enough for the teeth to breat thru, but I would wait on this one until your child is older.

Take a clean, soft washcloth and soak it in apple juice. Wring it out, tie the cloth in a knot, and place it in the freezer for 30 minutes (it will not freeze hard like water does, rather, it will get very cold and nearly frozen). When frozen, give it to your baby, placing it first in his mouth, then his hands. You will see almost immediate results. Your baby will love the apple juice and most doctors approve it for even very young infants. The combination of the cold and the texture of the washcloth will begin to ease your baby's pain right away.

Try "Teething Tablets." This is the only thing that helped my son. And try gently rubbing his gums with your finger, this will help as well.

My son refused teething rings when they were cold. You could try giving them to him room temperature?
