Chalk is a crystalline solid form of limestone composed of mineral calcite. It contains CaCO3.
A small amuont of this compound woud dissolve in CH3COOH and lemon juice producing CO2

Chalk contains CaCO3 in it.

let a general acid HA react with chalk.
The eqn is represented by,

CaCO3 + 2HA = CaA2 + CO2 + H2O

Vinegar (acetic acid soln) & lemon juice (mostly citric acid soln) both containing acids in it, chalk is expected to dissolve in them, & effervescence of CO2 will occur.

Chalk contains CaCO3 which is basic in nature, It is thus attacked by acids who form a more neutral salt with it.

Well chalk is a base, it'd neutralize the acids...

calcium carbonate +acid =

Calcium hydroxide +C02

the COH dissolves in water, while releasing gas.

Quite simple
